Convent. s. m. Maison Religieuse, Monastere. Quelques-uns escrivent Couvent, & c'est ainsi qu'il doit estre prononcé. Convent de Capucins, de Chartreux. convent de filles. On dit, Se mettre, se jetter dans un convent, pour dire, Se rendre Religieux ou Religieuse. Entrer dans un convent, se dit aussi quelquefois dans le mesme sens. De mesme que Sortir du convent, se prend quelquefois pour quitter l'habit de Religieux ou Religieuse.
Convent, se prend aussi tres souvent pour Tous les Religieux, où toutes les Religieuses qui sont dans un mesme monastere. C'est un convent bien reglé. tout le convent s'assembla pour l'eslection de l'Abbesse. la moitié du convent estoit pour un tel Religieux, l'autre moitié vouloit un autre Superieur.
